The main reason for being of FCC's Corporate Security department is to provide safety and protection against antisocial or criminal threats to the Group's personnel, tangible and intangible assets and facilities.

People are our main concern. We deal with their safety and protection regardless of their level of responsibility, the business area or affiliate company for which they work or their place of residence.

We are particularly concerned about the safety of our personnel overseas and frequent travellers, for whom specific security tools and procedures are foreseen. We are equally concerned about personnel in situations of aggravated risk such as threats, blackmail or extortion. We encourage any employee in these circumstances to contact us and ask for help.

The protection of FCC facilities and assets is carried out in collaboration with the business areas by advising the directors of the projects, centres or service contracts on the physical and electronic security systems that should be built in each case; by providing technical assistance in the related purchase and implementation processes; and by integrating the most appropriate human and procedural security measures in a coordinated security plan for each centre and project. We try to achieve this taking into account the circumstances and needs of the different projects and negotiating, not imposing, the implementation of efficient solutions that guarantee the adequate level of security and protection at an appropriate cost.

If the former constitutes our basic mandate our vision on how to fulfil this mandate is to become a supporting department that adds value to the group and areas, that serves with a permanent vocation of service and that everyone feels as their own. And not only through the efficacy in the accomplishment of our primary mission but also through our contribution in other fields.

In this vein the security department has acquired a number of security tools for the sake of FCC staff; has promoted the development and implementation of crisis management and alert and incident response structures and procedures; has helped include the security risks aspects in the tendering studies performed by the business areas; and collaborates with the compliance departments by issuing open source reports in support of the due diligence investigations.

The desired success of the department -which is to achieve a safe and secure working environment- is at the same time the success of everyone at FCC. Achieving this goal requires of trust and mutual knowledge among business areas and corporate departments as well as the commitment, awareness and cooperation of all FCC staff.

FCC Group's Corporate Security is guided by the following declaration of principles:

"All FCC employees should be concerned with creating, achieving and maintaining a safe and stable working environment in which to achieve our goals and objectives free from fear, malicious disruptions or harm to our people and assets."

The Corporate Security department (CSD) contributes to the achievement of the desired safe and stable working environment through a Corporate Security Management System that helps coordinate and manage the appropriate security measures.

FCC security policy responds to the following principles:

  1. Comprehensive approach to Security.
  2. Active involvement of all affiliate companies and business areas in the security issues.
  3. Technical guidance by the Corporate Security department and coordination among all interested business areas and departments.
  4. Strict observance of the Group's Code of Conduct while implementing the security policy.
  5. Full respect for the law and cooperation with public authorities.
  6. Adherence of all FCC personnel to security orientations and guidance.

The fundamental purpose of the FCC Corporate Security department is the proposal, implementation, monitoring and control of proactive and reactive security measures for the protection of the Group's workers and assets.
